This marker was placed near the crash site - just 200 yards away actually - earlier this month.

| Mountaineer Balloon Fest, Morgantown, WV, Oct. 7, 2006 |

| | thirsty | ] | We spent Saturday in Morgantown. (Glad I didn't go to school there... the place is depressing.) We attended the 21st Annual Mountaineer Balloon Festival, a festival that featured 26 hot air balloons from around the region. These pictures come from the 4:30 p.m. balloon race we got to see. Sadly, the weather wasn't great - that explains the darkness of some of the pics. Blame the graininess on the .jpg format.

| 4th Avenue, Huntington, Made to look like 1970-style Huntington for movie |
[Apr. 11th, 2006|08:50 pm] |
The "We Are Marshall" production will hit 4th Avenue tomorrow night for what will likely be the more colorful part of filming so far. Fourth Avenue has been transformed (time-warped?) to look more like the early 1970s-era Huntington. New awnings, props in the windows, etc. Look for yourselves...

| Night thunderstorm scene, Ceredo house |
[Apr. 9th, 2006|12:15 am] |
By the way, it's harder than it looks to take CLEAR pictures in the dark, without using a flash. But, I'm not complaining. It's been phenomenal watching them make this film. Tonight's scene included a thunderstorm, created by three gigantic irrigation tubes, similar to what you might see farmers using to water their crops. Nearby, a series of incredible, bright lights flashed rapidly to create the impression of lightning. As for wind? NO need to recreate that... I was so cold I could barely feel my fingers to take these pictures.
This part of the scene was very short and went something like this: Assistant coach Red Dawson (Matthew Fox) gets out of his car and screams to his wife (January Jones), "did you get my message?" We assume this will have something to do with the long recruiting trip Dawson makes in the movie. But, we're not sure.
By the way, Fox is a real trooper. He was drenched by the time they wrapped the scene, standing outside in 40-degree weather, with a brisk wind.
Oh, and a big shoutout to TK, the grip who led us back behind the house tonight to watch the filming up close. We don't have pics of Fox or Jones to show you, but we do have a couple of behind-the-scenes pics for your perusal.

| Sneaky Cheerleaders |
[Apr. 8th, 2006|09:30 pm] |
The blonde-haired lady in the photograph told a friend of ours that she was, in fact, January Jones -- one of the co-stars in the movie. So, we took a picture. She lied. These two actually played non-speaking roles as cheerleaders in the film.

| Props used in today's shooting of the film "We Are Marshall" |
[Apr. 8th, 2006|09:25 pm] |
This old motorcycle, according to some people in-the-know standing around the scene, might be "rebuilt" in the movie. If so, they suggest it will symbolize the rebuilding of the MU football program following the 1970 crash.

This old shed was built by the crew. We know it serves a purpose in the movie, but we don't know what that purpose is yet...

This photo shows you just how far away from everything this house is located.
